Crochet Designer: Dora Ohrenstein…I’m Hooked!

January 26, 2009

One of the joys of Ravelry is meeting new people. I recently met professional Crochet Designer Dora Ohrenstein on Ravelry. She has a wonderfully positive energy.

I will be the first to admit that I am crochet ignorant. I am not, however, closed minded. I may be unaware of what an artist is able to do, but that does not mean I assume that they are not or cannot be artists.

It is a delicate balance…you don’t want to be so open minded that your brain falls out, but you don’t want to be so closed minded that you squeeze the life out of the one you have, either.

At any rate, for those of you who knit and crochet as well, have fun looking at this site. I enjoyed looking at it, and found myself wishing I knew how to do more than single and double crochet. Like spinning, something else I wish I knew more about. In my copious free time and all that…

My husband did tell me once that it was a shame I had to work. My initial response was to call him a smart ass, but he earnestly went on to explain it is because I am so creative, he wished I could spend all my time being creative (I work part time as a nurse). Maybe someday.

It’s me, again…thoughts on beauty

March 18, 2007

I know my posting is sporadic, and today has been fairly prolific as far as my blog is concerned.

I ran across this link and had to share. Apparently, Dove has made a video clip regarding beauty, real beauty, and what our perception of it is in relationship to ourselves.

Bravo, Dove.

Knit together in my mother’s womb…

March 17, 2007

Jessica NicoleI love the verses in the Bible where we are told that God knit us in our mother’s womb. So, with that as the perfect introduction, here is a picture of our first grandchild. Gran-daughter Jessica Nicole, just 4 days old and precious as can be.

Though you cannot tell in the photograph, she is being held by her Daddy (that is his hand under her head). Her mommy is my oldest stepdaughter, Connie.

No, I don’t have her baby blanket done yet, but I am working on it. It may come late, but I will have knit it with my own hands.

It just wouldn’t have been the same to have it knit by one of my test knitters, even though I will be turning it into a pattern.

Welcome to the world, little girl. Your mom and dad have been lovingly preparing for your birth.

Peace and hugs, Grandma JoLene
